香港業餘冰球會及香港冰球訓練學校今晚假九龍灣國際展貿中心舉辦周年聚餐，慶祝冰球運動於過去一年大豐收，邁向新里程。
香港冰球運動近年取得多個突破，先有香港業餘冰球會及香港冰球訓練學校主席胡文新，於去年 9 月當選為新一任國際冰球聯合會(IIHF)副會長，成為首位出任國際冰聯內閣的華人；經過香港本地冰球界的多年努力，今年 5 月，國際冰聯終於接受香港申請，令香港冰界於廿六年後，再奪世界錦標賽參賽資格，喜訊一浪接一浪。
胡文新於致辭時表示：「香港冰球運動今年取得重要突破，香港男子冰球隊在 26 年後，終於重奪參加『世界冰球錦標賽』的資格，並且將有機會登上世界排名第 45 位，為香港的體育發展，揭開全新以及光輝的一頁。另外，香港18歲以下的男子冰球隊及女子冰球隊更首次獲得參加世錦賽的資格，他們分別會於明年 2 月及 3 月，遠赴土耳其以及墨西哥，出戰世錦賽以及外圍賽。在未來的日子，香港冰球訓練學校以及香港業餘冰球會，將會繼續肩負培訓香港本土年輕冰球員的使命，為香港孕育冰球種子。」
